Greetings from rainy Eureka, Missouri,
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sleep Inn Hotel on Friday nite' and I think the highlight was the free breakfast served! The Lord gave us a wonderful reprieve from the elements :)N
Now, Monday morning we are in a KOA just outside of St. Louis,Missouri. We got in late on Saturday night and from the road watched the sky give us a light show. There was lightening from every side of the sky...some cloud to cloud action and also cloud to ground strikes. At one point there was a cloudburst of rain and we could literally not see in front of us. We pulled in to the KOA in the dark and God graciously stopped the rain and kept the lightening far enough away so that we were able to get set up safely. We went to McDonalds at 10 p.m. for dinner. Some intense storms rolled in throughout the nite' and I was grateful to see the morning light after a restless nite' of hail and thunder :)
Yesterday, the weather cleared and we went to the St.Louis Arch..."Gateway to the west"... we took the ride up to the top...very cool! The highlight for Luke was being able to see the Cardinals play from 630' in the air...we had a bird's eye view, literally!! We decided to head back here to let the kids use the pool and get the laundry done. We had an early dinner, ate s'mores, Mr.K made some of his famous popcorn and the kids played a few games while Mark and I made a quick Walmart run to get a few things for a pancake breakfast. We should have checked the weather first!!!!
Last night, the rains, winds, and thunder hit once again. It seemed as if storm after storm rolled through. It would get quiet for a bit and the next wave would hit. As I type, it is pouring...and does not seem to be letting up. The plan is for us to pack up and head to the Williams for lunch as soon as there is a break in the weather. We will see if we can get out of here!
After the Williams we plan to head to Kentucky for the Creation Museum. As I type the boys are entertaining themselves by making bellybusters on each other...Odesco is trying to make tunes...hey, it's keeping them out of trouble.
Hope to get some pictures up soon! So grateful we are NOT in a tent...thank you Carnuccios and Lockharts!!!
Love,
Kathi for the waterlogged gang~
Praying for sunny days ahead :)
